Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Insurance and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Consumer & Cyclical, Telecoms and Media sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.32%, while the MDAX index fell 0.35%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which rose 4.20% or 0.356 points to trade at 8.826 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) added 3.64% or 0.835 points to end at 23.790 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) was up 2.28% or 0.445 points to 19.990 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which lost 1.60% or 0.600 points to trade at 36.950 in late trade. Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) declined 1.49% or 2.55 points to end at 168.75 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) shed 1.21% or 0.210 points to 17.095.
The top performers on the MDAX were Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which rose 2.12% to 70.403, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was up 1.46% to settle at 63.900 and Talanx AG NA O.N. (DE:TLXGn) which gained 1.37% to close at 33.185.
The worst performers were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 3.78% to 47.395 in late trade, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which lost 1.55% to settle at 65.630 and Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which was down 1.51% to 111.100 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 7.28% to 28.155, Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was up 2.84% to settle at 12.135 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 2.74% to close at 13.120.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 3.22% to 11.880 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which lost 1.98% to settle at 24.745 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 1.63% to 46.670 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 405 to 335 and 27 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.23% to 12.99.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.09% or 14.15 to $1279.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.26% or 0.12 to hit $45.84 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.06% or 0.03 to trade at $48.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.43% to 1.1208, while EUR/GBP fell 0.22% to 0.8671.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 97.01.
