Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Retail and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverages, Telecoms and Software sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.17%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.27%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which rose 29.62% or 8.605 points to trade at 37.655 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) added 1.28% or 0.365 points to end at 28.830 and Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) was up 1.20% or 0.660 points to 55.590 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG), which lost 0.84% or 0.650 points to trade at 76.910 in late trade. Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG) declined 0.81% or 0.760 points to end at 93.090 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN) shed 0.77% or 0.550 points to 70.440.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which rose 4.32% to 13.040, Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which was up 2.81% to settle at 44.932 and LEG Immobilien AG (XETRA:LEGn) which gained 1.90% to close at 63.950.
The worst performers were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was down 1.90% to 15.270 in late trade, Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which lost 1.74% to settle at 20.300 and Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which was down 1.69% to 15.730 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which rose 8.32% to 8.590, SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was up 1.55% to settle at 21.680 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which gained 1.46% to close at 80.870.
The worst performers were Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which was down 3.05% to 42.000 in late trade, Wirecard AG (XETRA:WDIG) which lost 1.44% to settle at 35.365 and BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was down 1.22% to 267.700 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 408 to 340 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 23.01.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.05% or 0.60 to $1172.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.42% or 0.25 to hit $59.45 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.04% or 0.03 to trade at $63.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.50% to 1.1146, while EUR/GBP fell 0.38% to 0.7084.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.41% at 95.76.
