Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Food & Beverages and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Insurance and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.43% to hit a new 1-month low, while the MDAX index fell 0.49%, and the TecDAX index added 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING), which rose 4.62% or 6.400 points to trade at 144.850 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 1.33% or 0.190 points to end at 14.505 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) was up 1.27% or 1.850 points to 148.050 in late trade.
Biggest losers included E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which lost 2.89% or 0.201 points to trade at 6.749 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 2.06% or 0.130 points to end at 6.173 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) shed 1.95% or 0.260 points to 13.040.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which rose 1.87% to 85.190, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was up 1.30% to settle at 42.570 and Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which gained 1.26% to close at 22.590.
The worst performers were Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was down 2.44% to 48.720 in late trade, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which lost 2.13% to settle at 5.02 and Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was down 2.06% to 27.310 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which rose 3.51% to 31.830, United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was up 2.67% to settle at 38.600 and Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which gained 1.54% to close at 184.600.
The worst performers were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 3.97% to 10.650 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 3.67% to settle at 21.415 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 1.34% to 42.630 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 512 to 365 and 25 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.69% to 21.21 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.15% or 2.05 to $1327.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.59% or 1.20 to hit $45.09 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.09% or 1.01 to trade at $47.31 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.1246, while EUR/GBP rose 1.19% to 0.8524.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 95.35.
