Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Technology and Media sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverages, Consumer & Cyclical and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.41%, while the MDAX index fell 0.06%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn), which rose 1.08% or 0.103 points to trade at 9.618 at the close. Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG) added 0.56% or 0.480 points to end at 86.630 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG) was up 0.54% or 0.380 points to 70.560 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p), which lost 2.61% or 2.600 points to trade at 96.840 in late trade. K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) declined 1.41% or 0.530 points to end at 36.970 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) shed 1.01% or 0.165 points to 16.250.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which rose 2.63% to 31.745, Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which was up 2.28% to settle at 59.310 and Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which gained 1.53% to close at 16.600.
The worst performers were Hochtief AG (XETRA:HOTG) which was down 2.01% to 77.120 in late trade, Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which lost 1.90% to settle at 50.899 and Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was down 1.41% to 13.635 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which rose 4.42% to 192.600, Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which was up 2.86% to settle at 42.500 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which gained 2.63% to close at 204.750.
The worst performers were Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which was down 3.93% to 40.225 in late trade, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which lost 2.66% to settle at 90.340 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was down 2.36% to 31.440 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 405 to 341 and 33 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.02% to 21.18.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.50% or 5.60 to $1118.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.37% or 0.16 to hit $42.95 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.13% or 0.07 to trade at $49.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.31% to 1.1077, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.7105.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 96.82.
