Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Resources and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Financial Services, Chemicals and Retail sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.07%, while the MDAX index lost 0.37%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn), which rose 2.34% or 0.245 points to trade at 10.735 at the close. Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) added 1.60% or 0.860 points to end at 54.460 and K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) was up 1.34% or 0.490 points to 37.190 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Linde AG O.N. (XETRA:LING), which lost 1.38% or 2.450 points to trade at 175.400 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) declined 0.91% or 0.220 points to end at 24.000 and Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) shed 0.88% or 1.900 points to 214.550.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which rose 3.86% to 54.300, Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which was up 2.90% to settle at 39.500 and Kion Group AG (XETRA:KGX) which gained 2.18% to close at 41.90.
The worst performers were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (XETRA:MTXGn) which was down 5.33% to 83.120 in late trade, Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (XETRA:DWNG) which lost 2.76% to settle at 22.405 and LEG Immobilien AG (XETRA:LEGn) which was down 2.21% to 66.500 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Software AG O.N. (XETRA:SOWG) which rose 8.57% to 27.505, Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which was up 4.79% to settle at 37.050 and Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which gained 4.06% to close at 51.750.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which was down 2.32% to 5.183 in late trade, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which lost 1.13% to settle at 1.921 and Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which was down 1.10% to 51.960 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 391 to 357 and 42 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.02% to 17.48.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.15% or 1.60 to $1093.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.55% or 0.27 to hit $48.92 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.19% or 0.10 to trade at $56.02 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.54% to 1.0988, while EUR/GBP rose 1.14% to 0.7079.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.33% at 97.29.
