Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Insurance, Food & Beverages and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Construction, Retail and Media sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.57% to hit a new 3-month high, while the MDAX index fell 0.29%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR:SY1G), which rose 3.30% or 3.75 points to trade at 117.45 at the close. Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) added 3.08% or 1.66 points to end at 55.50 and Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn) was up 1.83% or 8.80 points to 490.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG), which lost 2.60% or 0.64 points to trade at 23.99 in late trade. Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG) declined 1.46% or 1.24 points to end at 83.54 and Mercedes Benz Group AG (ETR:MBGn) shed 0.67% or 0.42 points to 62.14.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which rose 5.24% to 2.39, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was up 4.48% to settle at 34.48 and Hochtief AG (ETR:HOTG) which gained 1.27% to close at 111.90.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 5.40% to 6.39 in late trade, Stabilus (ETR:STM1) which lost 3.48% to settle at 38.80 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn) which was down 3.15% to 38.70 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which rose 4.48% to 34.48, 11 AG (ETR:1U1) which was up 1.41% to settle at 14.34 and Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) which gained 1.40% to close at 52.14.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 5.40% to 6.39 in late trade, Energiekontor AG (ETR:EKTG) which lost 2.43% to settle at 56.30 and Atoss Software AG (ETR:AOFG) which was down 2.39% to 138.60 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 325 to 276 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.55% to 14.16.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.50% or 12.75 to $2,540.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.03% or 0.78 to hit $74.75 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.08% or 0.85 to trade at $77.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.58% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 100.96.
