Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services, Food & Beverages and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Construction, Utilities and Software sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.42%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.41%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n), which rose 3.38% or 1.67 points to trade at 51.06 at the close. Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) added 2.78% or 0.86 points to end at 31.76 and Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR:HEIG) was up 2.67% or 3.30 points to 126.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG), which lost 1.95% or 0.60 points to trade at 30.20 in late trade. Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG) declined 1.51% or 1.20 points to end at 78.48 and Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) shed 1.42% or 0.29 points to 20.00.
The top performers on the MDAX were Bilfinger SE O.N. (ETR:GBFG) which rose 4.84% to 47.65, RTL Group SA (ETR:RRTL) which was up 4.05% to settle at 27.00 and Tui AG NA (ETR:TUI1n) which gained 3.33% to close at 8.74.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 12.19% to 54.05 in late trade, Stabilus (ETR:STM1) which lost 3.73% to settle at 32.30 and SCHOTT Pharma AG & Co KgaA (ETR:1SXP) which was down 3.13% to 26.00 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which rose 6.46% to 18.47, SUSS MicroTec SE (ETR:SMHNn) which was up 2.43% to settle at 50.50 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which gained 1.53% to close at 34.40.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 12.19% to 54.05 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which lost 1.87% to settle at 8.65 and 11 AG (ETR:1U1) which was down 1.25% to 12.68 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 314 to 311 and 26 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.24% to 13.45.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.43% or 38.76 to $2,757.16 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.01% or 1.38 to hit $69.97 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.51% or 1.09 to trade at $73.28 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.17% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.82.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 106.22.
