Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Food & Beverages and Retail sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Construction, Media and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.29%, while the MDAX index declined 0.43%, and the TecDAX index added 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG), which rose 3.44% or 17.00 points to trade at 511.60 at the close. Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) added 2.85% or 0.63 points to end at 22.74 and Siemens AG Class N (ETR:SIEGn) was up 2.09% or 3.26 points to 159.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG), which lost 3.11% or 0.40 points to trade at 12.30 in late trade. Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn) declined 2.87% or 1.88 points to end at 63.62 and Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (ETR:DHLn) shed 1.92% or 0.71 points to 36.33.
The top performers on the MDAX were Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which rose 2.73% to 21.09, Knorr-Bremse AG (ETR:KBX) which was up 2.33% to settle at 70.35 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which gained 1.38% to close at 62.50.
The worst performers were Puma SE (ETR:PUMG) which was down 3.73% to 35.58 in late trade, United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which lost 3.23% to settle at 16.80 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 3.21% to 5.27 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) which rose 1.88% to 24.37, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was up 1.38% to settle at 62.50 and Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which gained 0.73% to close at 30.28.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 7.70% to 22.54 in late trade, 11 AG (ETR:1U1) which lost 5.55% to settle at 12.60 and United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was down 3.23% to 16.80 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 341 to 259 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 17.51% to 19.41.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.09% or 26.40 to $2,458.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.77% or 0.58 to hit $75.81 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.37% or 0.29 to trade at $78.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.46% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 103.07.
