Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Retail, Food & Beverages and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Chemicals, Construction and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.81%, while the MDAX index gained 0.30%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn), which rose 2.72% or 0.80 points to trade at 30.17 at the close. Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) added 2.62% or 1.01 points to end at 39.52 and Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) was up 2.10% or 0.56 points to 27.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN), which lost 5.19% or 2.38 points to trade at 43.38 in late trade. Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe) declined 3.99% or 1.56 points to end at 37.57 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG) shed 3.21% or 2.24 points to 67.58.
The top performers on the MDAX were Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which rose 9.54% to 167.60, Freenet AG NA (ETR:FNTGn) which was up 5.64% to settle at 28.86 and TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which gained 4.47% to close at 11.68.
The worst performers were Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) which was down 4.90% to 77.70 in late trade, K+S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which lost 4.63% to settle at 11.22 and Stroeer SE (ETR:SAXG) which was down 4.40% to 49.52 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Freenet AG NA (ETR:FNTGn) which rose 5.64% to 28.86, TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which was up 4.47% to settle at 11.68 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which gained 2.27% to close at 33.40.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 2.92% to 7.64 in late trade, Energiekontor AG (ETR:EKTG) which lost 2.56% to settle at 43.70 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 2.44% to 58.05 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 341 to 274 and 26 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 11.41% to 15.45 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.45% or 12.30 to $2,693.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.96% or 2.14 to hit $70.22 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.57% or 1.94 to trade at $73.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.93% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.60% at 105.00.
