Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Telecoms and Media sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Construction, Transportation & Logistics and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.52%, while the MDAX index declined 0.82%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn), which rose 1.93% or 6.00 points to trade at 316.80 at the close. Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) added 1.44% or 8.80 points to end at 617.80 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) was up 0.68% or 0.20 points to 29.78 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe), which lost 6.01% or 2.18 points to trade at 34.11 in late trade. Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) declined 5.19% or 1.03 points to end at 18.90 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (ETR:VOWG_p) shed 2.38% or 1.96 points to 80.44.
The top performers on the MDAX were CTS Eventim AG (ETR:EVDG) which rose 1.73% to 82.40, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (ETR:HLE) which was up 1.42% to settle at 86.00 and Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which gained 1.41% to close at 19.47.
The worst performers were Hypoport AG (ETR:HYQGn) which was down 5.41% to 199.20 in late trade, Traton SE (ETR:8TRA) which lost 4.35% to settle at 27.50 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn) which was down 3.97% to 37.98 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) which rose 2.04% to 43.04, Nagarro SE (ETR:NA9n) which was up 2.04% to settle at 100.00 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which gained 1.47% to close at 15.20.
The worst performers were Energiekontor AG (ETR:EKTG) which was down 5.01% to 41.70 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which lost 3.16% to settle at 9.03 and SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 2.73% to 12.84 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 428 to 205 and 23 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.42% to 15.34 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.35% or 9.34 to $2,651.94 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $68.95 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.04% or 0.03 to trade at $72.45 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.21% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 107.03.
