Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology, Media and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverages, Transportation & Logistics and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.11%, while the MDAX index added 0.08%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn), which rose 1.26% or 1.130 points to trade at 90.630 at the close. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) added 1.21% or 1.30 points to end at 109.00 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) was up 1.18% or 0.245 points to 21.040 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn), which lost 0.87% or 0.305 points to trade at 34.730 in late trade. Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) declined 0.81% or 1.35 points to end at 164.85 and Siemens AG Class N (DE:SIEGn) shed 0.72% or 0.80 points to 110.85.
The top performers on the MDAX were STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which rose 3.56% to 83.200, Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was up 3.51% to settle at 54.620 and Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which gained 3.13% to close at 3.92.
The worst performers were Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which was down 1.25% to 11.84 in late trade, Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which lost 1.05% to settle at 17.985 and Innogy SE (DE:IGY) which was down 1.04% to 37.015 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which rose 3.23% to 6.000, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was up 2.46% to settle at 11.655 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 2.36% to close at 16.235.
The worst performers were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 2.11% to 30.67 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which lost 1.30% to settle at 42.135 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was down 0.93% to 49.000 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 441 to 325 and 25 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.87% to 15.01.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.40% or 5.11 to $1297.11 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.48% or 0.23 to hit $47.66 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.25% or 0.13 to trade at $52.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.70% to 1.1883, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.9226.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.61% at 92.66.
