Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecom, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverage, Transportation & Logistics and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.06%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.40%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which rose 7.45% or 2.210 points to trade at 31.870 at the close. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn) added 2.32% or 4.400 points to end at 193.850 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) was up 1.90% or 0.320 points to 17.120 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DPWGn), which lost 3.45% or 1.025 points to trade at 28.700 in late trade. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) declined 2.93% or 0.330 points to end at 10.950 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) shed 2.76% or 0.370 points to 13.045.
The top performers on the MDAX were Talanx AG NA O.N. (XETRA:TLXGn) which rose 2.80% to 30.700, Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which was up 2.70% to settle at 102.200 and Evonik Industries AG (XETRA:EVKn) which gained 2.41% to close at 32.255.
The worst performers were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was down 2.86% to 12.410 in late trade, Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which lost 1.71% to settle at 53.370 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (XETRA:BOSSn) which was down 1.68% to 117.050 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which rose 5.09% to 320.000, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which was up 4.67% to settle at 104.600 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (XETRA:AFXG) which gained 3.48% to close at 25.150.
The worst performers were Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which was down 3.63% to 154.000 in late trade, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which lost 3.42% to settle at 7.096 and QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was down 3.11% to 1.870 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 393 to 352 and 28 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 7.84% to 17.05.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.08% or 0.90 to $1151.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 1.04% or 0.50 to hit $47.67 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 0.65% or 0.38 to trade at $57.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.56% to 1.0606, while EUR/GBP rose 0.93% to 0.7132.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 99.37.
