Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 2.34% to hit a new 6-month low, while the MDAX index lost 2.52%, and the TecDAX index declined 3.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which fell 0.20% or 0.030 points to trade at 15.265 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) fell 0.30% or 0.035 points to end at 11.500 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn) was down 0.90% or 1.500 points to 165.050 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn), which lost 3.65% or 2.970 points to trade at 78.360 in late trade. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) declined 3.57% or 0.565 points to end at 15.265 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) shed 3.54% or 0.385 points to 10.500.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which rose 0.76% to 58.290, Sky Deutschland AG NA (XETRA:SKYDn) which was up 0.10% to settle at 6.780 and Man SE ST O.N. (XETRA:MANG) which lost 0.44% to close at 93.200.
The worst performers were Krones AG O.N. (XETRA:KRNG) which was down 5.91% to 94.370 in late trade, Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which lost 5.34% to settle at 47.545 and Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which was down 5.32% to 19.685 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which unchanged 0.00% to 1.844, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which was down 0.07% to settle at 86.440 and Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which lost 0.41% to close at 31.370.
The worst performers were Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which was down 9.21% to 8.636 in late trade, Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which lost 8.73% to settle at 42.895 and Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which was down 7.98% to 24.505 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 660 to 85 and 39 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 6.22% to 23.58 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.91% or 21.50 to $1149.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.29% or 0.12 to hit $41.39 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.43% or 0.20 to trade at $46.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.76% to 1.1203, while EUR/GBP rose 0.74% to 0.7144.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.48% at 95.96.
