Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Media, Consumer & Cyclical and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.26% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index declined 1.35%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Allianz SE VNA O.N. (XETRA:ALVG), which fell 0.38% or 0.550 points to trade at 143.100 at the close. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn) fell 0.54% or 0.900 points to end at 165.150 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) was down 0.60% or 0.145 points to 23.965 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Beiersdorf AG O.N. (XETRA:BEIG), which lost 2.31% or 1.870 points to trade at 79.230 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) declined 2.05% or 0.250 points to end at 11.940 and Bayer AG NA (XETRA:BAYGN) shed 1.98% or 2.550 points to 126.300.
The top performers on the MDAX were STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (XETRA:STAGn) which rose 1.69% to 31.070, Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which was up 1.58% to settle at 56.690 and Sky Deutschland AG NA (XETRA:SKYDn) which gained 0.19% to close at 6.713.
The worst performers were Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which was down 3.36% to 45.850 in late trade, Deutsche Euroshop AG O.N. (XETRA:DEQGn) which lost 2.67% to settle at 42.365 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (XETRA:PSMGn) which was down 2.28% to 42.620 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (XETRA:O2Dn) which rose 0.91% to 5.231, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which was up 0.65% to settle at 100.800 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which gained 0.57% to close at 6.932.
The worst performers were LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was down 3.96% to 8.139 in late trade, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which lost 3.18% to settle at 81.860 and Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which was down 3.13% to 161.100 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 554 to 178 and 37 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.47% to 23.49.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.62% or 7.30 to $1167.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.10% or 0.06 to hit $57.94 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.19% or 0.12 to trade at $61.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.15% to 1.1108, while EUR/GBP fell 0.51% to 0.7277.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.02% at 96.47.
