Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Food & Beverages and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.85%, while the MDAX index declined 1.01%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.88%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG), which rose 0.76% or 0.500 points to trade at 66.120 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) added 0.04% or 0.005 points to end at 11.770 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) was up 0.03% or 0.050 points to 167.950 in late trade.
Biggest losers included E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn), which lost 4.36% or 0.389 points to trade at 8.543 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) declined 3.37% or 0.420 points to end at 12.060 and Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) shed 2.21% or 1.015 points to 44.920.
The top performers on the MDAX were STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (XETRA:STAGn) which rose 4.81% to 32.790, Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which was up 1.24% to settle at 8.251 and Rhoen-Klinikum O.N. (XETRA:RHKG) which gained 0.77% to close at 24.715.
The worst performers were Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which was down 12.30% to 16.820 in late trade, Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which lost 2.49% to settle at 12.915 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was down 2.34% to 26.445 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which rose 4.74% to 99.900, LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was up 2.17% to settle at 8.536 and Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which gained 1.31% to close at 178.250.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 6.18% to 31.265 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which lost 2.73% to settle at 29.795 and Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which was down 2.14% to 43.340 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 513 to 166 and 41 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.11% to 27.42.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.53% or 5.90 to $1103.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.07% or 0.95 to hit $44.97 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.44% or 0.70 to trade at $48.19 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.1338, while EUR/GBP rose 0.63% to 0.7350.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.35% at 95.22.
