Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Media, Technology and Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.69%, while the MDAX index lost 1.06%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 3.54% or 0.510 points to trade at 14.910 at the close. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) added 2.08% or 0.190 points to end at 9.334 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) was up 1.24% or 0.135 points to 11.040 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which lost 3.83% or 1.465 points to trade at 36.750 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) declined 3.76% or 0.715 points to end at 18.300 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) shed 2.14% or 3.750 points to 171.250.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which rose 1.03% to 107.750, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was up 0.45% to settle at 42.870 and CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which gained 0.45% to close at 27.650.
The worst performers were Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was down 5.32% to 29.04 in late trade, Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which lost 4.76% to settle at 24.985 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 3.23% to 48.590 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 3.50% to 14.490, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was up 2.40% to settle at 24.29 and Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which gained 2.38% to close at 6.763.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was down 3.03% to 5.350 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which lost 2.90% to settle at 66.260 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 2.89% to 43.000 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 530 to 348 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.09% to 22.25.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 1.12% or 14.95 to $1353.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.16% or 0.08 to hit $48.91 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.14% or 0.07 to trade at $50.28 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.05% to 1.1144, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8383.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 95.63.
