Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Media, Consumer & Cyclical and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.65% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index lost 1.06%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were SAP SE (DE:SAPG), which rose 0.53% or 0.410 points to trade at 77.100 at the close. Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (DE:BMWG) added 0.31% or 0.230 points to end at 75.460 and Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) was up 0.21% or 0.300 points to 145.850 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which lost 7.36% or 2.785 points to trade at 35.065 in late trade. Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) declined 3.13% or 4.300 points to end at 133.050 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) shed 1.85% or 1.220 points to 64.900.
The top performers on the MDAX were Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which rose 1.21% to 55.420, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was up 1.07% to settle at 18.460 and Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which gained 0.81% to close at 32.275.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 4.60% to 4.62 in late trade, Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which lost 2.94% to settle at 25.775 and LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which was down 2.69% to 74.800 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which rose 3.51% to 12.680, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was up 2.14% to settle at 29.62 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 1.75% to close at 36.150.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 3.84% to 31.520 in late trade, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which lost 3.38% to settle at 8.544 and Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was down 2.68% to 40.000 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 666 to 202 and 16 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.25% to 24.59 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.13% or 1.65 to $1304.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.50% or 0.67 to hit $43.99 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.86% or 0.86 to trade at $45.49 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.1120, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.8880.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 97.05.
