Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Construction, Telecoms and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.42%, while the MDAX index fell 0.25%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which rose 0.47% or 0.105 points to trade at 22.535 at the close. Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) added 0.22% or 0.160 points to end at 74.360 and Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) was up 0.12% or 0.060 points to 51.980 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn), which lost 4.55% or 0.775 points to trade at 16.255 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) declined 2.93% or 0.870 points to end at 28.790 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG) shed 1.71% or 1.320 points to 75.720.
The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which rose 4.87% to 15.065, Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:FPEG_p) which was up 1.63% to settle at 40.275 and Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which gained 1.07% to close at 57.690.
The worst performers were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (XETRA:PSMGn) which was down 3.74% to 45.100 in late trade, Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which lost 2.47% to settle at 16.575 and Rheinmetall AG (XETRA:RHMG) which was down 1.78% to 49.415 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which rose 7.10% to 2.217, Jenoptik AG O.N. (XETRA:JENG) which was up 3.46% to settle at 11.800 and Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which gained 3.23% to close at 48.520.
The worst performers were Freenet AG NA (XETRA:FNTGN) which was down 5.27% to 30.545 in late trade, Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which lost 3.92% to settle at 42.540 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which was down 3.78% to 86.060 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 418 to 328 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.10% to 19.79 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.16% or 1.90 to $1206.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.60% or 0.97 to hit $59.75 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.74% or 1.16 to trade at $65.39 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.69% to 1.1036, while EUR/GBP rose 0.45% to 0.7127.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.69% at 96.12.
