Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Financial Services and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.16%, while the MDAX index lost 0.05%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which rose 1.63% or 0.260 points to trade at 16.190 at the close. BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) added 1.03% or 0.800 points to end at 78.240 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was up 0.95% or 0.800 points to 84.800 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which lost 2.06% or 0.67 points to trade at 31.60 in late trade. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) declined 2.03% or 0.300 points to end at 14.455 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) shed 1.70% or 0.250 points to 14.460.
The top performers on the MDAX were Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which rose 10.30% to 59.887, Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was up 5.68% to settle at 30.870 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which gained 1.29% to close at 17.340.
The worst performers were Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which was down 2.56% to 71.590 in late trade, Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which lost 2.49% to settle at 11.955 and Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which was down 2.28% to 85.180 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which rose 7.34% to 37.000, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was up 6.18% to settle at 5.650 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 1.61% to close at 26.115.
The worst performers were GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was down 2.38% to 18.280 in late trade, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which lost 2.02% to settle at 39.78 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 1.86% to 3.534 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 513 to 368 and 20 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.91% to 18.36.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.84% or 10.65 to $1257.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.04% or 0.52 to hit $50.35 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.20% or 0.62 to trade at $52.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.40% to 1.1160, while EUR/GBP rose 0.25% to 0.8815.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.44% at 96.55.
