Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Food & Beverages, Technology and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 2.56%, while the MDAX index fell 2.61%, and the TecDAX index fell 2.91%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG), which fell 1.29% or 0.165 points to trade at 12.605 at the close. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn) fell 1.56% or 2.650 points to end at 167.450 and Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG) was down 1.83% or 1.710 points to 91.930 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn), which lost 3.96% or 1.215 points to trade at 29.445 in late trade. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) declined 3.46% or 0.365 points to end at 10.180 and Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) shed 3.46% or 1.850 points to 51.590.

The top performers on the MDAX were STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (XETRA:STAGn) which rose 0.84% to 33.680, Sky Deutschland AG NA (XETRA:SKYDn) which was down 0.15% to settle at 6.800 and Man SE ST O.N. (XETRA:MANG) which lost 0.40% to close at 92.050.

The worst performers were Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which was down 8.54% to 78.930 in late trade, Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which lost 7.97% to settle at 74.330 and Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which was down 5.48% to 21.740 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which rose 2.96% to 5.280, Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which was up 0.39% to settle at 3.356 and Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which lost 0.45% to close at 3.541.

The worst performers were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which was down 11.47% to 28.550 in late trade, Morphosys AG O.N. (XETRA:MORG) which lost 5.72% to settle at 70.400 and Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which was down 5.60% to 145.000 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 682 to 72 and 40 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 11.84% to 20.78.

In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.93% or 10.10 to $1096.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.20% or 0.58 to hit $47.56 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.60% or 0.88 to trade at $53.74 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 1.14% to 1.1109, while EUR/GBP rose 0.77% to 0.7131.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.86% at 96.50.
