Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrials, Construction and Retail sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.97% to hit a new 1-month low, while the MDAX index declined 2.47%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn), which fell 0.04% or 0.01 points to trade at 22.53 at the close. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG) fell 0.40% or 0.12 points to end at 29.93 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR:HNKG_p) was down 0.59% or 0.50 points to 84.54 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Porsche Automobil Holding SE (ETR:PSHG_p), which lost 5.83% or 2.66 points to trade at 43.00 in late trade. Siemens AG Class N (ETR:SIEGn) declined 4.08% or 7.26 points to end at 170.84 and Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) shed 3.68% or 0.86 points to 22.54.
The top performers on the MDAX were Encavis AG (ETR:ECVG) which fell 0.12% to 17.08, K+S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which was down 0.47% to settle at 12.67 and Knorr-Bremse AG (ETR:KBX) which lost 0.54% to close at 73.75.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 7.24% to 41.52 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which lost 7.02% to settle at 8.34 and Sixt SE (ETR:SIXG) which was down 6.69% to 71.10 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (ETR:SMHNn) which unchanged 0.00% to 63.80, Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) which was down 0.04% to settle at 22.53 and Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which lost 0.59% to close at 67.60.
The worst performers were Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which was down 7.78% to 20.14 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which lost 7.24% to settle at 41.52 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 7.02% to 8.34 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 517 to 110 and 17 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.56% to 13.78.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.75% or 41.10 to $2,313.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.20% or 0.16 to hit $78.34 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.13% or 0.11 to trade at $82.49 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.52% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.20% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 104.74.
