Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Utilities, Software and Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.95% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index fell 2.08%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn), which rose 1.34% or 0.40 points to trade at 29.92 at the close. Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) added 0.98% or 0.48 points to end at 49.42 and Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) was up 0.04% or 0.20 points to 480.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included E.ON SE (ETR:EONGn), which lost 4.81% or 0.61 points to trade at 11.98 in late trade. Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) declined 4.26% or 0.98 points to end at 22.00 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (ETR:VOWG_p) shed 3.06% or 2.96 points to 93.90.
The top performers on the MDAX were Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which rose 1.36% to 134.10, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn) which was up 1.32% to settle at 38.36 and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (ETR:LHAG) which gained 0.76% to close at 5.60.
The worst performers were United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was down 17.56% to 16.20 in late trade, Aurubis AG (ETR:NAFG) which lost 11.91% to settle at 60.65 and Freenet AG NA (ETR:FNTGn) which was down 4.48% to 24.32 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which rose 1.34% to 29.92, Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) which was up 0.98% to settle at 49.42 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which gained 0.06% to close at 8.02.
The worst performers were United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was down 17.56% to 16.20 in late trade, 11 AG (ETR:1U1) which lost 13.22% to settle at 12.74 and Suess Microtec NA O.N. (ETR:SMHNn) which was down 8.04% to 49.20 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 599 to 74 and 16 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 32.72% to 21.79 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.16% or 28.55 to $2,441.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.34% or 0.25 to hit $73.27 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.22% or 0.17 to trade at $76.64 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.41% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP rose 0.59% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.40% at 102.57.
