Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Construction and Retail sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.20%, while the MDAX index declined 1.61%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.86%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG), which rose 1.14% or 7.00 points to trade at 620.20 at the close. Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) added 0.49% or 0.28 points to end at 57.00 and RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG) was up 0.25% or 0.07 points to 28.33 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn), which lost 5.39% or 1.82 points to trade at 31.88 in late trade. Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) declined 2.96% or 0.88 points to end at 28.80 and Siemens AG Class N (ETR:SIEGn) shed 2.71% or 5.28 points to 189.44.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn) which rose 5.77% to 43.42, Fraport AG (ETR:FRAG) which was up 4.26% to settle at 55.05 and CTS Eventim AG (ETR:EVDG) which gained 1.54% to close at 82.60.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 7.93% to 14.10 in late trade, Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which lost 6.60% to settle at 46.44 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which was down 5.84% to 2.79 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which rose 1.49% to 34.06, Nagarro SE (ETR:NA9n) which was up 0.25% to settle at 81.40 and Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which gained 0.18% to close at 11.38.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was down 7.93% to 14.10 in late trade, Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which lost 6.60% to settle at 46.44 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which was down 5.39% to 31.88 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 514 to 123 and 31 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.40% to 13.50.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.69% or 44.86 to $2,608.44 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.76% or 1.24 to hit $69.34 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.89% or 0.65 to trade at $72.74 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.14% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.49% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.33% at 108.11.
