Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Construction, Software and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.40%, while the MDAX index fell 0.05%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN), which rose 2.96% or 1.29 points to trade at 45.11 at the close. Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) added 2.40% or 0.63 points to end at 26.68 and Adidas AG (ETR:ADSGN) was up 2.10% or 4.80 points to 233.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG), which lost 5.78% or 29.70 points to trade at 483.70 in late trade. Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) declined 4.36% or 1.16 points to end at 25.44 and SAP SE (ETR:SAPG) shed 2.12% or 3.96 points to 183.26.
The top performers on the MDAX were Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) which rose 16.33% to 26.00, HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was up 7.37% to settle at 6.32 and Tui AG NA (ETR:TUI1n) which gained 3.32% to close at 7.15.
The worst performers were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was down 4.69% to 33.70 in late trade, Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which lost 4.35% to settle at 72.60 and Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 2.82% to 12.74 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) which rose 0.97% to 24.04, Freenet AG NA (ETR:FNTGn) which was up 0.87% to settle at 25.44 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which gained 0.62% to close at 243.60.
The worst performers were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (ETR:SMHNn) which was down 7.52% to 59.00 in late trade, Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) which lost 7.21% to settle at 46.08 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was down 4.69% to 33.70 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 307 to 293 and 43 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.48% to 13.15.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.05% or 1.35 to $2,466.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.99% or 1.59 to hit $81.30 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.52% or 1.27 to trade at $85.00 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.29% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 103.54.
