Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Construction and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.12%, while the MDAX index fell 0.92%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG), which rose 5.15% or 31.80 points to trade at 648.80 at the close. Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR:HEIG) added 2.79% or 3.40 points to end at 125.10 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) was up 1.69% or 5.40 points to 324.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n), which lost 5.96% or 3.20 points to trade at 50.50 in late trade. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) declined 3.68% or 1.25 points to end at 32.71 and Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn) shed 3.10% or 1.82 points to 56.98.
The top performers on the MDAX were TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which rose 8.52% to 10.39, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was up 2.68% to settle at 35.96 and CTS Eventim AG (ETR:EVDG) which gained 1.71% to close at 86.45.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 6.40% to 11.12 in late trade, Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which lost 4.88% to settle at 43.68 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 4.58% to 8.34 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which rose 8.52% to 10.39, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was up 2.68% to settle at 35.96 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which gained 0.63% to close at 96.15.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 6.40% to 11.12 in late trade, Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which lost 4.88% to settle at 43.68 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 4.58% to 8.34 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 401 to 204 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.70% to 14.84.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.72% or 19.19 to $2,684.59 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.13% or 0.84 to hit $73.41 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.14% or 0.88 to trade at $76.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.35% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP rose 0.64% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.50% at 108.93.
