Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Insurance, Construction and Software sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.01%, while the MDAX index declined 0.04%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN), which rose 1.35% or 1.750 points to trade at 131.550 at the close. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) added 0.83% or 0.28 points to end at 33.27 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG) was up 0.78% or 0.850 points to 109.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which lost 0.94% or 1.100 points to trade at 116.150 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 0.93% or 0.056 points to end at 5.934 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) shed 0.83% or 0.095 points to 11.400.
The top performers on the MDAX were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which rose 5.43% to 28.175, Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which was up 2.06% to settle at 49.040 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which gained 1.26% to close at 31.375.
The worst performers were Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 3.40% to 40.360 in late trade, Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which lost 3.07% to settle at 26.480 and Fielmann AG (DE:FIEG) which was down 2.61% to 66.800 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which rose 5.08% to 55.480, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was up 1.50% to settle at 3.645 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 1.06% to close at 27.295.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 3.26% to 34.600 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which lost 2.77% to settle at 50.110 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was down 2.59% to 7.150 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 457 to 392 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.62% to 19.32 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.17% or 2.25 to $1329.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.44% or 0.20 to hit $45.88 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.57% or 0.27 to trade at $47.64 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.55% to 1.1060, while EUR/GBP rose 0.94% to 0.8398.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.56% at 96.64.
