Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Telecom and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.71%, while the MDAX index declined 0.13%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn), which rose 2.03% or 0.220 points to trade at 11.045 at the close. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn) added 0.53% or 1.000 points to end at 188.850 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG) was up 0.46% or 0.240 points to 52.440 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which lost 2.77% or 0.675 points to trade at 23.675 in late trade. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) declined 2.44% or 0.410 points to end at 16.415 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG) shed 1.92% or 1.370 points to 69.940.
The top performers on the MDAX were Wacker Chemie O.N. (XETRA:WCHG) which rose 3.80% to 113.300, Hannover Rueckversicherung SE (XETRA:HNRGn) which was up 2.85% to settle at 89.640 and Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which gained 2.42% to close at 41.059.
The worst performers were Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which was down 3.67% to 9.230 in late trade, Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which lost 3.07% to settle at 26.640 and Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which was down 2.96% to 54.480 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which rose 4.84% to 158.000, Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was up 4.81% to settle at 125.300 and QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which gained 3.09% to close at 1.871.
The worst performers were LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was down 3.14% to 13.100 in late trade, Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which lost 3.10% to settle at 35.205 and SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 2.80% to 12.150 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 478 to 266 and 23 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 15.81.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.55% or 6.40 to $1160.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 2.58% or 1.29 to hit $48.71 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 2.98% or 1.75 to trade at $56.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.21% to 1.0721, while EUR/GBP fell 0.98% to 0.7103.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.84% at 98.45.
