Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Food & Beverage, Transportation & Logistics and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.69% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index lost 1.40%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.86%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG), which rose 2.20% or 0.980 points to trade at 45.615 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG) added 0.19% or 0.120 points to end at 64.370 and Linde AG O.N. (XETRA:LING) was up 0.12% or 0.200 points to 173.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG), which lost 4.27% or 8.850 points to trade at 198.200 in late trade. Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG) declined 4.07% or 4.350 points to end at 102.500 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) shed 3.15% or 6.750 points to 207.500.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which rose 1.71% to 51.250, Wacker Chemie O.N. (XETRA:WCHG) which was up 1.35% to settle at 99.970 and Evonik Industries AG (XETRA:EVKn) which gained 0.23% to close at 28.550.
The worst performers were Leoni AG NA O.N. (XETRA:LEOGn) which was down 6.30% to 53.710 in late trade, Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which lost 4.22% to settle at 30.080 and Kabel Deutschland Holding AG O.N. (XETRA:KD8Gn) which was down 4.19% to 118.800 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which rose 2.89% to 112.300, Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which was up 1.38% to settle at 5.870 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which gained 0.59% to close at 25.650.
The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was down 4.93% to 98.870 in late trade, Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which lost 4.45% to settle at 43.475 and QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was down 4.05% to 1.964 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 555 to 186 and 23 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 13.10% to 20.90.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.32% or 4.00 to $1238.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 2.92% or 1.51 to hit $53.20 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 1.23% or 0.72 to trade at $59.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.1320, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.7440.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 94.70.
