Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Construction and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.06%, while the MDAX index gained 1.38%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.00%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p), which rose 2.47% or 4.600 points to trade at 190.800 at the close. Bayer AG NA (XETRA:BAYGN) added 2.00% or 2.550 points to end at 129.900 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG) was up 1.93% or 1.340 points to 70.880 in late trade.
Biggest losers included K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which lost 0.99% or 0.355 points to trade at 35.500 in late trade. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) declined 0.25% or 0.025 points to end at 10.155 and E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) shed 0.17% or 0.020 points to 11.955.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gerresheimer AG (XETRA:GXId) which rose 12.23% to 62.915, Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which was up 4.49% to settle at 21.390 and Talanx AG NA O.N. (XETRA:TLXGn) which gained 3.89% to close at 29.255.
The worst performers were Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which was down 2.67% to 76.820 in late trade, Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (XETRA:SY1G) which lost 0.92% to settle at 58.920 and Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which was down 0.61% to 14.560 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which rose 5.98% to 10.635, Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which was up 4.03% to settle at 150.850 and Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which gained 3.40% to close at 25.985.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which was down 5.11% to 5.010 in late trade, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which lost 2.68% to settle at 1.815 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was down 1.92% to 8.378 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 534 to 214 and 37 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.44% to 19.65.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.17% or 1.90 to $1095.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.58% or 0.75 to hit $48.14 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.42% or 0.23 to trade at $53.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.31% to 1.1054, while EUR/GBP fell 0.65% to 0.7080.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 96.78.
