Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Basic Resources and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.74%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.07%, and the TecDAX index added 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn), which rose 3.07% or 0.435 points to trade at 14.595 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) added 2.10% or 0.350 points to end at 17.005 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) was up 2.08% or 0.495 points to 24.320 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn), which lost 4.74% or 9.050 points to trade at 181.850 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) declined 4.04% or 0.955 points to end at 22.690 and Allianz SE VNA O.N. (XETRA:ALVG) shed 2.25% or 3.600 points to 156.050.
The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which rose 4.52% to 12.600, Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which was up 3.50% to settle at 58.480 and Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which gained 2.90% to close at 8.800.
The worst performers were Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which was down 4.21% to 96.130 in late trade, Hannover Rueckversicherung SE (XETRA:HNRGn) which lost 2.16% to settle at 95.460 and A.Springer AG VNA (XETRA:SPRGn) which was down 1.37% to 51.660 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which rose 3.64% to 159.500, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which was up 3.25% to settle at 120.900 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which gained 2.34% to close at 84.240.
The worst performers were Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which was down 6.39% to 4.906 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which lost 2.99% to settle at 13.630 and Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which was down 2.33% to 46.250 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 426 to 315 and 27 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.94 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 1.52% or 18.10 to $1176.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.94% or 0.54 to hit $57.20 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.42% or 0.28 to trade at $65.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.42% to 1.0869, while EUR/GBP fell 0.35% to 0.7163.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.33% at 97.11.
