Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Construction, Technology and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.59%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.55%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which rose 3.00% or 0.550 points to trade at 18.875 at the close. Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) added 1.91% or 3.30 points to end at 175.70 and Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) was up 1.82% or 1.670 points to 93.650 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG), which lost 0.69% or 0.660 points to trade at 94.780 in late trade. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) declined 0.44% or 0.075 points to end at 16.880 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) shed 0.36% or 0.45 points to 124.65.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which rose 5.07% to 34.930, Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was up 4.59% to settle at 49.375 and Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which gained 1.59% to close at 47.790.
The worst performers were Gerresheimer AG (BS:GXId) which was down 0.79% to 74.020 in late trade, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which lost 0.74% to settle at 24.080 and Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which was down 0.55% to 108.650 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which rose 4.77% to 42.395, GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was up 4.68% to settle at 20.120 and Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which gained 4.05% to close at 5.775.
The worst performers were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 0.54% to 130.10 in late trade, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which unchanged 0.00% to settle at 37.50 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was unchanged 0.00% to 52.000 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 465 to 274 and 25 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 6.39% to 12.60.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.28% or 3.55 to $1265.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.48% or 0.22 to hit $46.30 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.50% or 0.24 to trade at $48.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1200, while EUR/GBP fell 0.73% to 0.8786.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 97.04.
