Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Basic Resources and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.14%, while the MDAX index gained 0.01%, and the TecDAX index added 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which rose 6.44% or 4.260 points to trade at 70.430 at the close. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) added 1.78% or 1.680 points to end at 95.920 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) was up 0.90% or 0.720 points to 80.790 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 2.64% or 0.350 points to trade at 12.900 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 2.02% or 0.130 points to end at 6.318 and Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) shed 1.70% or 2.650 points to 153.050.
The top performers on the MDAX were Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which rose 3.68% to 27.595, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was up 3.19% to settle at 50.160 and STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which gained 2.25% to close at 49.630.
The worst performers were Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which was down 4.66% to 26.600 in late trade, Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which lost 2.27% to settle at 92.600 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was down 1.62% to 18.565 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which rose 40.85% to 39.16, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was up 4.71% to settle at 32.255 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 4.57% to close at 20.500.
The worst performers were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 1.40% to 3.599 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which lost 1.35% to settle at 54.100 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 0.76% to 25.355 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 457 to 427 and 30 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.08% to 17.93.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.46% or 19.35 to $1346.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.09% or 0.04 to hit $44.40 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.57% or 0.75 to trade at $46.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.83% to 1.1240, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.8366.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.86% at 94.92.
