Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Financial Services and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.02%, while the MDAX index gained 0.04%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which rose 9.02% or 0.980 points to trade at 11.845 at the close. E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) added 8.00% or 0.602 points to end at 8.129 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN) was up 3.66% or 2.450 points to 69.330 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p), which lost 1.82% or 1.690 points to trade at 91.360 in late trade. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) declined 1.61% or 0.165 points to end at 10.060 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) shed 1.35% or 0.245 points to 17.860.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which rose 2.36% to 15.410, Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which was up 1.21% to settle at 15.890 and LEG Immobilien AG (XETRA:LEGn) which gained 1.09% to close at 68.400.
The worst performers were Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which was down 3.16% to 73.870 in late trade, Metro AG ST O.N. (XETRA:MEOG) which lost 1.67% to settle at 25.295 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was down 1.31% to 26.355 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Wirecard AG (XETRA:WDIG) which rose 4.84% to 39.965, Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which was up 3.47% to settle at 9.830 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which gained 2.81% to close at 29.305.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 4.12% to 32.095 in late trade, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which lost 2.52% to settle at 6.466 and STRATEC Biomedical AG (XETRA:SBSG) which was down 1.52% to 47.805 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 379 to 297 and 31 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.98% to 23.79.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.15% or 1.70 to $1117.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.38% or 0.18 to hit $46.97 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.70% or 0.84 to trade at $48.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% to 1.1315, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.7286.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 95.39.
