Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Software, Media and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.49%, while the MDAX index added 1.12%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.95%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (ETR:HEIG), which rose 4.44% or 4.22 points to trade at 99.36 at the close. Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) added 3.53% or 0.82 points to end at 24.03 and SAP SE (ETR:SAPG) was up 3.42% or 6.00 points to 181.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Porsche Automobil Holding SE (ETR:PSHG_p), which lost 7.18% or 3.53 points to trade at 45.66 in late trade. Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) declined 1.76% or 4.40 points to end at 245.10 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (ETR:VOWG_p) shed 1.48% or 1.65 points to 109.55.
The top performers on the MDAX were Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which rose 4.21% to 13.85, CTS Eventim AG (ETR:EVDG) which was up 4.04% to settle at 81.20 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which gained 3.89% to close at 1.99.
The worst performers were Stabilus (ETR:STM1) which was down 15.79% to 48.00 in late trade, United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which lost 1.76% to settle at 21.20 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was down 1.67% to 34.14 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (ETR:SMHNn) which rose 4.59% to 63.80, SAP SE (ETR:SAPG) which was up 3.42% to settle at 181.40 and SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which gained 2.80% to close at 44.76.
The worst performers were 11 AG (ETR:1U1) which was down 2.57% to 16.66 in late trade, United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which lost 1.76% to settle at 21.20 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which was down 1.76% to 245.10 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 368 to 244 and 45 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.59% to 14.59 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.03% or 24.00 to $2,350.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.59% or 0.46 to hit $78.36 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.57% or 0.47 to trade at $82.39 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.00% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.23% at 103.90.
