Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Telecoms and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 1.26%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.81%, and the TecDAX index added 1.64%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Siemens AG Class N (ETR:SIEGn), which rose 4.91% or 8.80 points to trade at 188.20 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) added 4.64% or 1.37 points to end at 30.76 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) was up 3.30% or 0.92 points to 28.77 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG), which lost 3.37% or 5.10 points to trade at 146.45 in late trade. Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) declined 1.12% or 6.40 points to end at 566.40 and RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG) shed 0.69% or 0.22 points to 31.75.
The top performers on the MDAX were Talanx AG NA O.N. (ETR:TLXGn) which rose 6.78% to 78.00, Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which was up 4.80% to settle at 21.82 and CTS Eventim AG (ETR:EVDG) which gained 4.05% to close at 93.85.
The worst performers were Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which was down 4.73% to 155.20 in late trade, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which lost 3.51% to settle at 33.50 and HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was down 3.00% to 11.30 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Elmos Semiconductor AG (ETR:ELGG) which rose 6.45% to 67.70, Energiekontor AG (ETR:EKTG) which was up 6.33% to settle at 43.70 and Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which gained 4.80% to close at 21.82.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 13.68% to 11.93 in late trade, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which lost 3.51% to settle at 33.50 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which was down 1.31% to 14.28 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 398 to 222 and 30 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.56% to 16.43.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.26% or 6.60 to $2,579.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.19% or 0.13 to hit $68.56 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.22% or 0.16 to trade at $72.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 106.48.
