Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Food & Beverages sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.99%, while the MDAX index gained 1.63%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Covestro AG (ETR:1COV), which rose 5.11% or 2.62 points to trade at 53.86 at the close. Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) added 4.02% or 0.95 points to end at 24.58 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG) was up 2.73% or 2.38 points to 89.64 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG), which lost 3.86% or 0.87 points to trade at 21.67 in late trade. SAP SE (ETR:SAPG) declined 0.88% or 1.60 points to end at 179.46 and E.ON SE (ETR:EONGn) shed 0.08% or 0.01 points to 12.60.
The top performers on the MDAX were HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which rose 11.78% to 5.44, Hochtief AG (ETR:HOTG) which was up 9.98% to settle at 109.10 and Rational AG (ETR:RAAG) which gained 3.81% to close at 830.00.
The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which was down 2.15% to 88.65 in late trade, Encavis AG (ETR:ECVG) which lost 0.88% to settle at 16.83 and CTS Eventim AG (ETR:EVDG) which was down 0.25% to 78.70 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which rose 3.65% to 66.80, Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which was up 3.19% to settle at 27.16 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which gained 3.12% to close at 8.59.
The worst performers were Atoss Software AG (ETR:AOFG) which was down 4.42% to 110.40 in late trade, Suess Microtec NA O.N. (ETR:SMHNn) which lost 4.39% to settle at 56.60 and Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which was down 2.26% to 19.48 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 436 to 190 and 39 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.94% to 15.62.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.44% or 10.25 to $2,341.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.03% or 0.83 to hit $81.56 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.95% or 0.80 to trade at $85.13 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.36% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 105.17.
