Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Chemicals and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.62% to hit a new 3-month high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.23%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which rose 2.69% or 0.248 points to trade at 9.476 at the close. Linde AG 1 (DE:LIN1) added 2.06% or 3.9000 points to end at 193.6000 and Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) was up 1.56% or 1.28 points to 83.36 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG), which lost 1.19% or 0.980 points to trade at 81.080 in late trade. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) declined 0.88% or 2.00 points to end at 224.40 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) shed 0.73% or 1.40 points to 191.10.
The top performers on the MDAX were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which rose 2.25% to 68.100, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was up 2.10% to settle at 152.90 and Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which gained 1.78% to close at 27.380.
The worst performers were Metro Wholesale & Food Specialist AG (DE:B4B) which was down 1.31% to 11.6500 in late trade, Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which lost 1.25% to settle at 149.50 and Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which was down 0.96% to 113.150 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which rose 7.83% to 33.05, Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was up 3.47% to settle at 268.50 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which gained 3.21% to close at 91.750.
The worst performers were S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was down 7.11% to 20.900 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which lost 6.96% to settle at 19.762 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 2.64% to 12.365 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 412 to 258 and 95 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.47% to 14.47 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.48% or 6.30 to $1319.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.15% or 0.11 to hit $71.03 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.12% or 0.09 to trade at $77.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.46% to 1.1904, while EUR/GBP rose 0.82% to 0.8820.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 92.68.
