Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Utilities and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.49% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index added 0.62%, and the TecDAX index added 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which rose 2.51% or 3.050 points to trade at 124.750 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) added 1.74% or 3.200 points to end at 186.700 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was up 1.68% or 0.240 points to 14.540 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which lost 4.45% or 0.259 points to trade at 5.563 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) declined 2.36% or 0.310 points to end at 12.850 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) shed 1.05% or 0.160 points to 15.140.
The top performers on the MDAX were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) which rose 7.31% to 92.930, Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which was up 5.14% to settle at 62.030 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which gained 2.38% to close at 42.025.
The worst performers were Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which was down 1.74% to 90.590 in late trade, Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which lost 0.90% to settle at 75.240 and Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which was down 0.84% to 45.685 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which rose 4.65% to 8.152, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was up 3.20% to settle at 73.230 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which gained 3.12% to close at 18.840.
The worst performers were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was down 1.86% to 6.862 in late trade, Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which lost 0.86% to settle at 24.735 and STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was down 0.74% to 52.310 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 461 to 393 and 28 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.39% to 18.04.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.04% or 0.50 to $1327.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.02% or 0.44 to hit $42.69 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $44.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.0989, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8367.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 97.17.
