Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Media, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Food & Beverages sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.27%, while the MDAX index added 0.29%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG), which rose 2.38% or 2.120 points to trade at 91.240 at the close. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) added 1.45% or 0.64 points to end at 44.67 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was up 1.12% or 0.110 points to 9.971 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Covestro AG (DE:1COV), which lost 2.02% or 1.560 points to trade at 75.600 in late trade. Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) declined 0.58% or 0.65 points to end at 111.55 and Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) shed 0.51% or 1.10 points to 214.60.
The top performers on the MDAX were Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which rose 4.49% to 52.400, RTL Group SA (DE:RRTL) which was up 2.09% to settle at 63.500 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (DE:AT1) which gained 1.97% to close at 7.745.
The worst performers were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) which was down 2.23% to 48.30 in late trade, Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which lost 0.98% to settle at 60.44 and Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was down 0.96% to 51.85 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which rose 4.95% to 156.800, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was up 4.82% to settle at 20.000 and SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which gained 4.00% to close at 23.40.
The worst performers were Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which was down 3.30% to 33.960 in late trade, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which lost 2.98% to settle at 11.225 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 2.89% to 20.160 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 389 to 307 and 82 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.61% to 14.46 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.25% or 3.00 to $1211.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.14% or 0.78 to hit $69.31 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.04% or 0.79 to trade at $77.08 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.03% to 1.1699, while EUR/GBP fell 1.01% to 0.8994.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 94.55.
