Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Technology and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.19%, while the MDAX index gained 0.58%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 2.54% or 0.430 points to trade at 17.355 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) added 2.25% or 3.46 points to end at 157.00 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was up 2.09% or 0.460 points to 22.440 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which lost 6.24% or 1.875 points to trade at 28.175 in late trade. Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) declined 1.06% or 1.150 points to end at 107.050 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) shed 0.95% or 0.36 points to 37.34.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rational AG (BS:RAAd) which rose 3.94% to 530.00, Innogy SE (DE:IGY) which was up 2.57% to settle at 34.360 and Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which gained 2.41% to close at 10.845.
The worst performers were Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which was down 4.72% to 28.650 in late trade, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which unchanged 0.93% to settle at 0.30 and STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which was down 0.51% to 86.280 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which rose 7.59% to 31.200, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 4.97% to settle at 126.700 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which gained 3.65% to close at 13.910.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 2.48% to 15.740 in late trade, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which lost 2.05% to settle at 44.000 and Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was down 2.02% to 242.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 453 to 264 and 77 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.56% to 19.92.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.26% or 16.60 to $1336.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.37% or 0.23 to hit $62.34 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $65.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.55% to 1.2404, while EUR/GBP rose 0.36% to 0.8939.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 89.59.
