Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Consumer & Cyclical and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.13% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index added 0.58%, and the TecDAX index added 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG), which rose 2.71% or 2.04 points to trade at 77.24 at the close. Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) added 2.64% or 0.52 points to end at 20.02 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR:HNKG_p) was up 1.59% or 1.30 points to 83.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n), which lost 2.19% or 1.16 points to trade at 51.86 in late trade. Allianz SE VNA O.N. (ETR:ALVG) declined 0.98% or 3.00 points to end at 301.60 and Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) shed 0.97% or 6.40 points to 651.80.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn) which rose 5.08% to 39.71, Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which was up 2.72% to settle at 35.44 and Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) which gained 2.62% to close at 25.84.
The worst performers were Hochtief AG (ETR:HOTG) which was down 1.37% to 129.40 in late trade, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which lost 1.15% to settle at 37.72 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 1.02% to 58.10 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Energiekontor AG (ETR:EKTG) which rose 5.45% to 45.45, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which was up 2.94% to settle at 16.48 and SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which gained 2.87% to close at 14.35.
The worst performers were Atoss Software AG (ETR:AOFG) which was down 4.97% to 122.40 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which lost 1.79% to settle at 8.77 and Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which was down 1.33% to 23.76 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 356 to 250 and 49 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.44% to 13.61 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.44% or 11.59 to $2,659.99 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.20% or 0.82 to hit $67.48 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.01% or 0.73 to trade at $71.36 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.08% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 106.01.
