Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Insurance, Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 2.24% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index added 1.23%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which rose 4.20% or 1.325 points to trade at 32.840 at the close. Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG) added 3.22% or 3.300 points to end at 105.900 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) was up 3.01% or 7.450 points to 255.200 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn), which added 0.20% or 0.035 points to trade at 17.185 in late trade. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) added 0.65% or 0.085 points to end at 13.125 and RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) gained 1.00% or 0.235 points to 23.790.
The top performers on the MDAX were Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which rose 3.10% to 104.750, Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (XETRA:SY1G) which was up 2.91% to settle at 61.240 and Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which gained 2.66% to close at 16.770.
The worst performers were Rheinmetall AG (XETRA:RHMG) which was down 0.88% to 47.325 in late trade, Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which lost 0.72% to settle at 52.150 and Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which was down 0.52% to 74.240 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which rose 4.30% to 111.550, Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was up 3.39% to settle at 131.300 and QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which gained 2.81% to close at 1.976.
The worst performers were PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which was down 3.88% to 12.390 in late trade, LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which lost 0.90% to settle at 13.175 and SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 0.83% to 11.950 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 514 to 229 and 38 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 17.01.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.08% or 0.90 to $1153.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in May fell 2.66% or 1.25 to hit $45.81 a barrel, while the May Brent Oil contract fell 2.70% or 1.49 to trade at $53.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.01% to 1.0602, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.7146.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.83% at 99.88.
