Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecom, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Industrial sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.66% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index gained 0.86%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG), which rose 3.41% or 1.690 points to trade at 51.180 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) added 2.96% or 0.480 points to end at 16.670 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG) was up 2.44% or 1.740 points to 73.170 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BASF SE NA O.N. (XETRA:BASFN), which lost 1.57% or 1.370 points to trade at 85.650 in late trade. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) declined 0.81% or 0.085 points to end at 10.345 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) shed 0.57% or 0.075 points to 13.100.
The top performers on the MDAX were Airbus Group (XETRA:AIRG) which rose 6.81% to 55.060, Rhoen-Klinikum O.N. (XETRA:RHKG) which was up 3.83% to settle at 23.470 and Kion Group AG (XETRA:KGX) which gained 2.60% to close at 38.94.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was down 6.71% to 25.525 in late trade, Hochtief AG (XETRA:HOTG) which lost 2.48% to settle at 70.120 and Gerresheimer AG (XETRA:GXId) which was down 2.19% to 51.350 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which rose 3.91% to 45.195, Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was up 2.13% to settle at 117.350 and Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which gained 1.93% to close at 18.705.
The worst performers were LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was down 2.82% to 12.250 in late trade, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which lost 2.58% to settle at 7.164 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which was down 1.57% to 74.070 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 453 to 292 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.79% to 14.66 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.49% or 5.90 to $1216.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in April rose 1.95% or 0.94 to hit $49.11 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 2.82% or 1.70 to trade at $61.74 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.1189, while EUR/GBP fell 0.25% to 0.7250.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 95.36.
