Investing.com – France equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Utilities and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Consumer Goods, Basic Materials and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.05%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF), which rose 2.24% or 1.33 points to trade at 60.64 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) added 1.06% or 0.28 points to end at 26.29 and Thales (EPA:TCFP) was up 0.92% or 1.35 points to 147.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN), which lost 3.07% or 1.08 points to trade at 34.13 in late trade. Renault SA (EPA:RENA) declined 2.89% or 1.09 points to end at 36.66 and Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) shed 2.42% or 6.05 points to 243.45.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Nexity (EPA:NEXI) which rose 3.75% to 12.74, Viridien SA (EPA:VIRI) which was up 3.12% to settle at 33.75 and Sopra Steria Group SA (EPA:SOPR) which gained 3.07% to close at 191.10.
The worst performers were Air France KLM SA (EPA:AIRF) which was down 5.52% to 7.95 in late trade, Emeis SA (EPA:EMEIS) which lost 4.09% to settle at 5.25 and Derichebourg (EPA:DBG) which was down 3.85% to 5.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 275 to 210 and 104 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.64% or 17.15 to $2,673.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.37% or 0.26 to hit $70.09 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.33% or 0.24 to trade at $73.80 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.33% at 101.26.
