Investing.com – France equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrials, Financials and Technology sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Oil & Gas and Construction & Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 1.99% to hit a new 3-month low, while the SBF 120 index added 0.97%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS), which rose 0.56% or 12.00 points to trade at 2,168.00 at the close. Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP) fell 0.34% or 0.13 points to end at 38.24 and Danone SA (EPA:DANO) was down 0.40% or 0.24 points to 59.76 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AXA SA (EPA:AXAF), which lost 4.03% or 1.30 points to trade at 30.95 in late trade. Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) declined 3.97% or 2.20 points to end at 53.18 and Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN) shed 3.88% or 1.69 points to 41.89.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Bollore SA (EPA:BOLL) which rose 1.02% to 5.94, Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) which was up 0.56% to settle at 2,168.00 and SEB SA (EPA:SEBF) which lost 0.09% to close at 109.00.
The worst performers were Trigano SA (EPA:TRIA) which was down 9.49% to 124.90 in late trade, Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) which lost 9.48% to settle at 2.98 and Viridien SA (EPA:VIRI) which was down 9.23% to 0.52 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 436 to 85 and 88 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.73% or 40.75 to $2,314.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.18% or 0.14 to hit $78.36 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.12% or 0.10 to trade at $82.50 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.52% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.21% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 104.73.
