Investing.com – France equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Utilities and Technology sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Basic Materials, Consumer Services and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.02%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which rose 0.97% or 1.05 points to trade at 109.00 at the close. Total SA (PA:TOTF) added 0.82% or 0.44 points to end at 54.17 and L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP) was up 0.63% or 1.30 points to 207.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP), which lost 3.21% or 0.78 points to trade at 23.49 in late trade. Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) declined 2.25% or 2.35 points to end at 102.30 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) shed 1.82% or 1.33 points to 71.55.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Spie SA (PA:SPIE) which rose 3.88% to 16.050, Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which was up 2.81% to settle at 94.300 and Eurofins Scientific (PA:EUFI) which gained 1.92% to close at 478.40.
The worst performers were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was down 6.37% to 2.352 in late trade, Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) which lost 3.21% to settle at 23.49 and Eramet (PA:ERMT) which was down 2.31% to 76.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 274 to 268 and 124 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.76% to 12.95.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.72% or 8.70 to $1194.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.28% or 0.19 to hit $67.67 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.15% or 0.11 to trade at $74.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.1555, while EUR/GBP rose 0.37% to 0.9015.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 95.45.
