Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the General Retailers, Support Services and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 2.40%, while the SBF 120 index declined 2.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Technip (PARIS:TECF), which fell 0.51% or 0.25 points to trade at 48.31 at the close. Total SA (PARIS:TOTF) fell 0.97% or 0.40 points to end at 40.41 and Alstom SA (PARIS:ALSO) was down 1.07% or 0.29 points to 27.38 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kering SA (PARIS:PRTP), which lost 5.56% or 8.50 points to trade at 144.25 in late trade. AXA SA (PARIS:AXAF) declined 3.92% or 0.88 points to end at 21.59 and Valeo SA (PARIS:VLOF) shed 3.66% or 4.10 points to 107.90.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Solocal Group (PARIS:LOCAL) which rose 2.43% to 0.337, Rubis (PARIS:RUBF) which was up 2.26% to settle at 64.67 and Korian Medica SA (PARIS:KORI) which gained 0.34% to close at 31.350.
The worst performers were Kering SA (PARIS:PRTP) which was down 5.56% to 144.25 in late trade, Innate Pharma (PARIS:IPH) which lost 5.42% to settle at 11.860 and Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which was down 5.19% to 35.535 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 582 to 122 and 48 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 10.69% to 32.81.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.64% or 7.20 to $1139.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 7.89% or 3.88 to hit $45.32 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 8.73% or 4.72 to trade at $49.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.74% to 1.1296, while EUR/GBP rose 0.99% to 0.7379.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.54% at 95.44.
