Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Media, Consumer Services and Leisure Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.31% to hit a new 6-month low, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Lafargeholcim Ltd (PARIS:LHN), which rose 2.20% or 0.99 points to trade at 46.09 at the close. Technip (PARIS:TECF) added 2.16% or 0.88 points to end at 41.55 and Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP) was up 1.89% or 0.23 points to 12.64 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Orange SA (PARIS:ORAN), which lost 2.11% or 0.29 points to trade at 13.43 in late trade. Accor SA (PARIS:ACCP) declined 2.03% or 0.83 points to end at 40.10 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (PARIS:VIE) shed 1.69% or 0.340 points to 19.770.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vallourec (PARIS:VLLP) which rose 3.74% to 8.09, Montupet SA (PARIS:MNTP) which was up 3.40% to settle at 49.630 and Altran Technologies (PARIS:ALTT) which gained 2.97% to close at 10.190.
The worst performers were Numericable Pr (PARIS:NUME) which was down 9.24% to 41.070 in late trade, Solocal Group (PARIS:LOCAL) which lost 7.00% to settle at 0.226 and DBV Technologies (PARIS:DBV) which was down 6.07% to 63.400 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 522 to 206 and 51 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.55% to 32.29.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.08% or 0.90 to $1130.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.23% or 0.99 to hit $45.42 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.21% or 1.04 to trade at $48.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.1257, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.7422.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 96.02.
