Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Utilities, Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 1.48% to hit a new 3-month low, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 1.10% or 0.305 points to trade at 28.105 at the close. STMicroelectronics (PA:STM) added 0.77% or 0.142 points to end at 18.642 and Accor SA (PA:ACCP) was up 0.25% or 0.11 points to 44.24 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP), which lost 2.71% or 5.45 points to trade at 195.65 in late trade. Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) declined 2.57% or 1.25 points to end at 47.30 and Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI) shed 2.48% or 2.75 points to 108.30.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which rose 1.10% to 28.105, STMicroelectronics (PA:STM) which was up 0.77% to settle at 18.642 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) which gained 0.30% to close at 49.84.
The worst performers were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 6.34% to 25.700 in late trade, Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which lost 4.00% to settle at 60.000 and JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) which was down 3.68% to 33.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 536 to 90 and 61 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 8.42% to 17.75 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.09% or 1.20 to $1338.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.83% or 1.20 to hit $64.25 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.25% or 0.86 to trade at $67.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.26% to 1.2423, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.8858.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 89.31.
