Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Consumer Services and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.12%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN), which rose 3.66% or 1.33 points to trade at 37.62 at the close. Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) added 3.33% or 1.61 points to end at 49.92 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) was up 1.29% or 0.13 points to 10.21 in late trade.
Biggest losers included LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH), which lost 4.66% or 32.20 points to trade at 659.40 in late trade. Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) declined 4.54% or 14.30 points to end at 300.60 and Safran SA (EPA:SAF) shed 2.48% or 5.10 points to 200.50.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Nexans SA (EPA:NEXS) which rose 8.30% to 116.10, Dassault Aviation SA (EPA:AM) which was up 7.71% to settle at 174.70 and Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN) which gained 3.66% to close at 37.62.
The worst performers were LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) which was down 4.66% to 659.40 in late trade, Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) which lost 4.54% to settle at 300.60 and Metropole Television SA (EPA:MMTP) which was down 4.06% to 12.30 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 277 to 203 and 99 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.64% or 15.45 to $2,422.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.99% or 0.76 to hit $77.72 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.95% or 0.77 to trade at $81.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.15% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 103.96.
